In contrast to tablegrapes, winegrapes (Vitis vinifera, Vitidaceae) are cultivated throughout temperate, subtropical and tropical regions. Cultivation of grapes, i.e., viticulture, for winemaking is usually less intensive than production for fresh fruits.
